Designing with soul and reason

Mediator of creative expression and empirical research

Are you familiar with the concept of an Artisan? It’s a rather aged term describing a person engaged in craftwork. Moreover, artisans are associated with high-quality, soulful products which they passionately stand up for. I believe this concept describes my relation to design very accurately. Besides the joy of creating meaningful products, my passion for design builds upon a strong enthusiasm for learning about unfamiliar things. It drives me into trying them myself and studying how they work. Thus, researching user needs and building empathy are my favorite parts of the design process.

My design career began by studying International Business, which exposed me to market research and UX design. Right after I went all in and became a self-trained Designer. Landing jobs at an e-commerce startup and later at a digital agency solidified my design approach. My master’s degree in Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media added novel perspectives and skills to my profile, which I’m currently exploring further.

Off the job I enjoy visiting cultural events, strumming the ukulele and learning how to ollie a skateboard. Together with two friends, I’m also organizing the Munich Accessibility Meetup, bringing together people interested in web accessibility and inclusive design.
